Favorite Products of 2011

Hey everyone I decided to do this post sharing my most loved and used products of 2011. I will be including both high end and low end products. I will put links to where you can purchase all of the products at the end of the post. I would love it if you would share your favorite products in the comments or link to a post you made about them because I always like to try new things!

Face:

I've only been using this concealer by Almay for the last month of 2011 but by far it is one of the best concealers i've ever used. It is called the Clear Complexion Concealer. It gives medium to full coverage and is a liquid formula so it doesn't cake up when applied on acne spots or blemishes. Plus the salicylic acid in it controls the problem spot from getting worse while the concealer sell covers it. As long as there is a powder over it this will last all day. It will only last a couple hours without a powder on top.

This is the Healthy Wear Translucent Pressed Powder by Physicians Formula. This is actually supposed to be a powder foundation but since it is translucent it gives absolutely no coverage. This is a great product to set your concealer or foundation with though because of the products thickness it keeps you from having to apply a large amount causing that white mask look on your face. It doesn't really have a scent so thats good and it has SPF 50 in it so it protects your skin from UV rays.

My favorite Powder blush this year so far is Mac Cosmetics blush in Melba. It is a matte peach tone blush and looks really natural on my skin tone. Since I have a more yellow skin tone peach blushes look more natural on me then pinks or reds do. This blush is highly pigmented so a little goes a long way.

Again this is a product that i've only tried in the last month but it has quickly became my favorite drugstore blush by far. It is a cream texture that blends almost seamlessly with the skin. The color I have is in Peach Satin, it has a slight shimmer to it but its more of a glow since there is no actually sparkle in the product itself.

My favorite highlight this year and it was last year as well is Mac Cosmetics Mineralized Skin Finish in Perfect Topping. It gives a light shimmer with no chunky glitter so it looks natural. Plus they last literally forever i've had mine for a year and haven't even flattened the dome.

My favorite drugstore highlight would have to be the all over color stick by elf in Golden Peach, it has subtle shimmer and being a cream product blends easily. Plus it only costs $1.00 so I mean you can't beat that!

Eyes:

This by far is the best eyeshade primer I have ever used, it is the Urban Decay Primer Potion. It keeps your eyeshadow from creasing and helps your shadows colors stand out and last all day long.

This is the best eyeshadow pallet I have ever used or owned, It is the Naked pallet by Urban Decay. It is filled with neutrals and has twelve eyeshadows and two of them are matte. The rest are either shimmer or glitter finish, these eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and amazing to work with. I think these will forever be my favorite go to eyeshadows.

My favorite drugstore eyeshadows would have to be the trios by Sally Hanson. They are well coordinated colors, highly pigmented and blend well. Plus they are pretty good sized eyeshadows for the price.
I got this eyeliner in a set that I received for christmas,it is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Cream Eyeliner in Black. This by far is the best and most pigmented cream eyeliner I have evrer used. It glides on flawlessly and all you have to do is lightly touch the product with the brush. So I'm pretty sure this may last me for months and it hasn't dried at all yet so far.

This cream eyeliner by ELF is the best drugstore cream eyeliner I have ever come across. It is highly pigmented and glides on beautifully. It does dry out after about a month of use but all you have to do is press your finger to the product and the warmth will soften it again. Not to mention you get a ton of product for only $3.00.
This is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eyeliner Pencil in Zero, it is by far the best eyeliner pencil I have ever used. I'm sure you've seen many posts and videos of people raving about this product and all I can do is agree because it is that wonderful. It is great for the top lash line to add definition to the lashes and it also stays in the waterline beautifully.
This is the Unstoppable Eyeliner by Maybelline I have it in the color white so I don't know about the black but the white is an awesome eyeliner. It stays on the water line like a champ and blends out to a beautiful highlight also.

Lips:
This Lipstick from YSL "which may be the best lipstick Brand ever" is deffinatly my favorite for this year. I have the Rouge Pur Couture in Number 6 which is a rosy nude color. It glides on wonderfully and has great pigmentation and is very moisturizing also. This lipstick comes in a good variety of colors and shades so I plan on defiantly picking up a few more.
This is Revlon's Lip Stick in Pink Pout,it is a matte formula. I love this lipstick because it is one of the only matte formulas I have found that doesn't get or feel drying on my lips. Its a beautiful light pink that in my opinion would look great on any skin tone.
This is the Smooch Proof 16 Hour Lip Stain by NYC Cosmetics. It is my favorite lip stain I have ever tried and it is also one of the cheapest on the market. These are highly pigmented and don't dry out my lips to bad like most stains do, in fact as long as I wear chap stick over top it does't dry them out at all. As for its 16 hour claim it lasts about 6 and then begins to fade, it will wear down faster if you are eating and drinking a lot also. Although for the great price of $5.00 each I can live with the shorter lasting power.
I don't often wear lipgloss but if I do it will most likely be a NYX Mega Shine LipGloss, I have the colors Beige and Golden Pink. They are a long lasting, highly pigmented, non-sticky formula which I love because I have long curly hair that loves to get stuck in my lipgloss anytime i'm wearing any.

Blue & Grey Smokey Eye Tutorial

Hope you all had a great holiday season and got to spend lots of time with your family and loved ones. I decided to put up this tutorial after picking up a few new makeup items during an after Christmas sale. Hope you enjoy!

Start with a clean and properly moisturized face so the makeup will apply evenly and flawlessly. I used Bioelements Beyond Hydration Moisturizer.
Apply a tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone or a foundation if you need the extra coverage. I used Physicians Formula Organic Tinted Moisturizer in Fair to Light.
Apply a concealer to any redness or blemishes, I used Mac Cosmetics Select Cover-Up in nw20.

Apply a yellow base concealer to counteract any dark circles under the eyes, I used NYC Cosmetics Cover Stick Corrector in Light.
Apply a translucent powder all over the face with a fluffy brush to set the concealer and tinted moisturizer and using a sponge pat some powder on the concealer covering the under eye darkness. The powder I used is the Physicians Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation in Translucent Light.
Apply a peachy pink blush to the apples of your cheeks and work it up to your hairline. I used Mac Cosmetics powder blush in Melba.
Apply a highlight color to the high points of your face such as the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, above the brow arches, above the lip cupid bow, on the inner corners of the eyes and the middle of the chin. The highlight I used is Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Perfect Topping.[no longer available from mac]
Fill in the sparse areas in your eyebrows and comb them into place. The brow color I used is the darkest color in the Maybelline New York Natural Smokes Palette.
Apply a eyeshadow primer and a champgne shade on the lid all the way up to the brow bone. I used Urban Decays Primer Potion and eyeshadow in Sin from the Naked Palette.
Apply a blue toned Grey to the crease keep the outer half darker and fade it out as you work it into the inner corner. The eyeshadow I used is Revlons Satin eyeshadow in Peacock Lustre.
Use a Gunmetal grey color in the outer v so darken the look and blend it outwards for a smokey effect. The eyeshadow I used is Gunmetal by Urban Decay from the Naked Palette.
Apply the same blue toned grey you used in the crease to the lower lash line and fade it out using a smudge brush.
Apply a white shade to the inner corners of the eyes to brighten the look and make the eyes look more open. I used Virgin from the Naked Palette by Urban Decay.
Apply a black cream eyeliner to your upper lash line and wing it out. The eyeliner I used is by ELF in the color black.
Apply a black mascara to the upper and lower lashes the mascara I used it Revlons Custom eyes in Black.
Apply a brown lip stain or lip stick to your lips, the stain I used is Never Ending Nude by NYC cosmetics.
Apply a nude lipgloss to your lips and your done! The lip gloss I used is Incolor Lipshine Shimmer Glaze in Sugar Cookie by Jordanna.

Christmas Presents 2011

Happy Holidays!

Hey everyone, I just thought I would do a post about some of the gifts I received for Christmas. In no way am I trying to brag I just thought I would let you know some of the products and fashion pieces you will see in future posts and let you know about some things you might be interested in buying yourself! I will put links for all the products in the end of the post.

I got these super cute booties from my mother they are by Steve Madden. They kind of remind me of the Jeffery Cambell's Lolita booties. These booties are super comfortable and super cute in my opinion they come in a variety of colors the ones I got were the tan ones above. I also would love to get my hands on the Cheetah ones also I think they are adorable. They also run a little small so I would get a size up if you buy them because i'm a 7 1/2 but I had to get an 8 due to the odd shape of the front of the shoe.

I also got these boots to share with my mum, they are by the designer Vera Wang. They are super cute and super comfortable. They are waterproof on the outside and have a fuzzy lining on the inside to make them nice and warm.

I got this little set from tarte, it came with a mini cheek stain, mini lights camera lashes mascara, mini lipsurgence lip stain, and a full size cream eyeliner. This set is called the Tarte Shining Stars Limited Edition Best sellers collection. I already tried most of the products so I will try and do a review on them soon.
I also got these leggings from macys they are by the brand Hue, I got them in black. They are a corduroy leggings and are a skinny fit. They run true to size so if you would like to buy them then they would be what ever size you are in a elastic stretch skirt.

I also got this vest by New York and Company its super cute and keeps me really warm. I got it in the sliver color above and also in a plum color. The are on sale now if you would like to get one so hurry!

I also got this Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme. This is supposed to be a heavy moisturizer to properly moisturize any dry skin that you have. I already have tried this product and will do a review on it with a few other body products as well.

I also got this Chappy's Mint lip Balm i'm not sure if its by the Brand Chappy's or by another i'm not sure because it didn't show up online on any store at least but i'm sure if you look you could find it. The lip balm is moisturizing and gives a fresh mint scent.

This body scrub is also something I received, it is by the Brand Tree Hut it is a Coconut Lime Shea Sugar Body Scrub. This scrub is a harsh one but works very effectively and it has a nice subtle scent.

I also received the body butter that went along with the scrub. I haven't tried the body butter yet but it seems to be a thicker consistency with a very subtle scent just like the scrub.
I also received this bath melt called Mango by lush. I think it costs around $4.00 so its pretty cheap and its supposed to melt to the heat of your bath. It makes the water a creamy texture and is supposed to be super moisturizing. I will let you know how I think of it after I use it!
